How much does a website cost in Spain?

By the Bright Analytic team ·

If you run a business in Spain, sooner or later you will ask how much a proper website costs — and you will get answers that range from "free" to several thousand euros. The honest answer is that it depends, but on specific things you can understand before asking for quotes. This guide explains what drives the price, what you will pay after launch, how VAT and invoices work and how to compare offers.

Why there is no single price

Asking what a website costs is like asking what a renovation costs: painting a room is not rebuilding a kitchen. A five-section site presenting a gestoría and an online shop with two hundred products are completely different projects, even though both are "websites".

That is why the ranges you see online are so wide. What matters is understanding which parts make up the price and which ones you actually need.

The type of website matters most

  • Corporate website: presents your business and services and makes it easy to contact you. The most common choice for small businesses.
  • Landing page: a single page for one campaign or service.
  • Catalogue: shows products without online checkout; customers enquire and you reply.
  • Online shop: cart, payments, shipping, taxes and order management. More work to configure and test.
  • Custom website: advanced booking, client areas or integrations with other software.

Other factors that move the price

  • Number of pages or sections.
  • Custom design versus a template.
  • Who writes the text and provides the photos.
  • Languages — in Spain, often English and Spanish, sometimes more.
  • Integrations: payment gateways, booking tools, CRMs.

A real reference

As a concrete starting point: our corporate website costs €500 + VAT (€605 including 21% VAT), one-off, with responsive design, basic SEO, a contact form, first-year hosting, a professional email account and up to five sections. A second language is quoted separately. You can see exactly what is and is not included on our website cost page.

Running costs after launch

A website is not a one-off expense. Budget for:

  • Domain: your web address (.es or .com), renewed yearly.
  • Hosting: the server your site runs on, paid monthly or yearly.
  • Maintenance: updates, backups and small changes — optional, but without it sites degrade.
  • Third-party tools: booking software, premium plugins, email marketing.

VAT, invoices and the Canaries

In mainland Spain and the Balearics, web services carry 21% VAT, and a Spanish business should receive a proper invoice (factura) for its accounts — your gestor will ask for it. Always check whether a quote includes VAT: "€500" can mean €500 or €605.

The Canary Islands use IGIC instead of VAT, with their own rules for services from the mainland, so ask how you will be invoiced if your business is there.

Every business website in Spain needs a legal notice identifying the owner (LSSI), a privacy policy (GDPR) and, if it uses non-essential cookies, a cookie policy and consent banner. A cheap website that leaves these out can cost you more later. Make sure any quote includes them.

How to get a useful quote

Before asking for quotes, be clear on the goal of the website, the sections you imagine, whether you need booking or payments, which languages, and who will prepare the text and photos. The clearer the brief, the more accurate — and comparable — the quotes will be.
